Hell on Earth

Danakil Depression is one of the most remote and inhospitable environments in the world. Few animals or plants can survive here. Littered with acid ponds and geysers, vibrant colors are a result of seawater reacting with volcanic minerals in magma. Only the nomadic Afar people have settled nearby, still extracting salt the traditional way and transporting it by camel.
